John Andrew Jenkins, of 82 Tan y Gelli, must carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and attend alcohol activity sessions for 730 days.
Jenkins, aged 45, admitted he had beaten Catrin Sian Jones on two occasions, the first being at Glanaman on August 15, when he also damaged her necklace and mobile phone.
The second assault took place on June 10 in Ammanford.
Jenkins also admitted damaging a glass pane on a front door belonging to Ms Jones at Ammanford on June 11.
Llanelli Magistrates also ordered Jenkins to pay costs of £85 and a £60 victim surcharge.
