A Brynaman teenager who resisted arrest and subject police to a foul-mouthed tirade during an early morning confrontation has been fined at Llanelli magistrates court.

Cameron David Alexander Burnett, of 15 New Road, pleaded guilty to using threatening words and behaviour and obstructing a constable in execution of their duty during the 7am incident on October 4.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard Jones told the court how the 18-year-old was seen by officers acting suspiciously near parked cars.

“As the police approached Burnett, he became very hostile,” said Mr Pritchard Jones.

“They arrested him because he would not disclose who he was and they believed he could have been under the influence of drugs."

Defence solicitor Laura Sherwood said Burnett offered "an unreserved apology for his behaviour" and since the incident has found work.

District Judge Neil Thomas said: “This happened outside a newsagents, in front of members of the public who heard your abusive language and witnessed you resisting arrest.

“By acting in this manner you made the job of the police more difficult when they have an extremely difficult job to do anyway.”

Burnett was fined £25 for using threatening words and a further £25 for obstructing a constable in execution of duty.

He was also ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and prosecution costs of £85.
