Llandovery’s iconic Castle Hotel has been put up for sale.

The recently refurbished Grade II listed 19-bedroom hotel has been put on the market by owners Taste Inn Wales with pub-sale specialists Colliers International.

The Castle Hotel, who saw a turnover of £650,000 last year, is also home to the town museum as well as the Red Giraffe shop.

Peter Brunt from Colliers International, who specialises in selling hotels and pubs across Wales and the West, described the Castle Hotel as a “traditional coaching inn”.

“The Castle is a well-presented hotel occupying a prominent position in the town centre and offers a persuasive balance between the rustic charm of its 17th century roots with contemporary styling,” said Mr Brunt.

“Our clients own a group of hospitality businesses centred around Crickhowell and Brecon, and have found that this, the most distant of their group, is beyond a comfortable distance for their management operation.

“As such, they have decided to sell The Castle so that they can concentrate on their hub properties.

“This gives new owners the chance to get their hands on a thriving business in an excellent, all-year round location.”

Mr Brunt said the owners were expecting offer in excess of £700,000 for the freehold to the property.
