AN Ammanford man has been taken to the Heath Hospital in Cardiff in a serious condition following what police have described as “a serious assault” outside his home on Saturday night.

The 41-year-old, who had not been named at the time of going to press, was taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea following the incident, which was said to have taken place in the driveway of the victim’s home in Penybanc Road at 9.30pm.

The Guardian understands that the man was transferred from Swansea to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, on Monday morning.

Dyfed-Powys Police have continued to appeal for any information or witnesses to the incident to come forward as soon as possible.

A spokesman for the force said officers were called to the property in Penybanc Road at 9.30pm on October 18, “where a serious assault took place on the driveway of the property”.

“A 41-year-old man was assaulted. He was conveyed to Morriston Hospital.”

Two men, who have also not been named, were subsequently arrested on the night of the incident and were initially held in police custody at Llanelli.

However, the pair have since been bailed.

A statement issued by the police on Tuesday said: “The two males arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail pending further police enquiries.”

Officers are continuing to carry out further investigations into the incident and have again appealed for public assistance.

Dyfed-Powys Police are interested in speaking to witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident.

The public are being urged to contact police “as a matter of urgency” with any information by calling the non-emergency number 101.
