TWO AMMANFORD men, who cycled across Wales, clocked up an amazing 400 miles on their charity ride.

Seth Jones and Anthony O Neil, even managed to include trips up and down Wales’ two highest peaks during their six day mission to raise funds for South African based charity Grow Peace.

Seth, from Betws, and Anthony, who is from Parcyrhun and is currently serving as an army Lance Corporal abroad, left Betws on July 25 with their first stage taking them to Brecon followed by a detour up Pen y Fan.

The route over the six days saw them taking in Welshpool, Colwyn Bay and a further climbing expedition up Mount Snowdon- usually averaging around 60 miles a day on their bikes.

The route home saw them travel from Caernarfon to home via Porthmadog and Aberystwyth.

The pair were supported by friends and family along the route, including Seth’s wife Nia and two daughters Ffion, 11, and Megan, aged nine.

The idea for the trip, says Seth, a teacher at Bishop Gore School, Swansea, was something "he had always wanted to do."

"I had talked about it for a while and as I am turning 40 next year I thought it was the perfect chance to actually do it and Anthony was keen to join me," said Seth. "The army actually gave him extra leave for him to do it."

And it was the ideal chance for Seth to raise money for Grow Peace, a charity close to his heart.

"Last summer we had a school trip to South Africa where they spent a week working at the Goedgedacht Trust Farm- an initiative that aims to help rural children escape poverty through growing and producing products such as olive oil.

"I was really inspired by the work they do within the trust and how the scheme is helping some many children.

"I wanted to rise as much as possible to ensure more young people can access this amazing scheme."

More than £700 has already been donated with more still to come. If you would like to donate, you can do so by visiting their Just Giving page - Seth and Ant’s Cycle Out Of Poverty.
