Carmarthenshire East and Dinefwr MP Jonathan Edwards and AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas showed their support for National Care Home Day by visiting residents at Llys Newydd Care Home in Capel Hendre.
Care homes across the country opened their doors to the public today (Friday, June 20) for a second year running.
“National Care Home Day is a great opportunity to meet up with more local residents and see first-hand the services at the heart of these communities,” said Mr Edwards.
“One of the measures of a civilised society is how we treat our elderly citizens. The care sector therefore plays a vital role in ensuring that older people are able to live with dignity and respect.
Mr Thomas added: “It was a pleasure to speak with some of the residents and hear how much they enjoy the activities in their home.
“Care homes such as Llys Newydd and the many others in Carmarthenshire enable our older residents to enjoy a full a life as possible.”
