A Capel Hendre road maintenance and construction firm has been labelled one of the county’s success stories after it invested significant sums in new machinery to expand its operations.

Road-sweeping and road-planing contractor RNA Plant Ltd has added a Scania G410 8x4 Tipper and a Wirtgen W120i Cold-Milling machine to their armada of maintenance equipment.

The company has grown steadily over recent years and now employs 25 people and operates a fleet of six tippers, four cold-milling machines, nine road-sweepers, plant trailers and various support vehicles.

Principally involved in road maintenance and construction, RNA's customers include local authorities throughout Wales and major civil engineering companies such as Tarmac Lafarge, Costain and Hansons.

Managing Director, Neil Armstrong says "This new equipment will help the company to grow, create new jobs and keep on providing our customers with a safe, high quality service.

Carmarthen East and Dinefwr MP Jonathan Edwards attended the unveiling of the company’s new equipment and described the firm as “one of Carmarthenshire’s success stories”.

“One of the best parts of being an elected member is seeing first-hand how local companies work to develop their businesses,” said Mr Edwards.

“RNA has invested a considerable sum of money in its new equipment which will no doubt put it in an excellent position to gain new contracts in the future. I’m delighted to have been able to be a part of this event.

“Meeting with the Directors today, I’ve learned how the business has been able to diversify its work by developing its own digital resource management system, putting the business ahead of the game in tapping into a whole new market.

“RNA is one of Carmarthenshire’s many success stories, and I wish the company well as it grows from strength to strength.”
