A Brynaman surgery has been given a new piece of lifesaving equipment thanks to the the local fundraising efforts of chapels and churches in the town.

Undeb Cymdeithas Capeli Brynamman and Eglwysi Rhyddion Brynamman raised £3,000 for Wales’ heart charity, British Heart Foundation (BHF) Cymru to buy an ECG machine for the local GP surgery.

Fundraiser Anita Humphreys said members of the chapels and churches are extremely pleased with the efforts made by the local people to be able to buy the machine for the surgery.

The surgery are equally as pleased to receive the machine, that has already been in constant use since its arrival.

"We are delighted to have such a vital piece of equipment," said Dr Liz MacGowen.

Jayne Lewis, BHF Cymru local fundraising and volunteering manager for South West Wales, said: "I would like to thank all the members who raised £3,000 that has purchased the ECG machine for the surgery which will help us all in the fight against heart disease, Wales' single biggest killer."
