A 16-YEAR-old Ystalyfera schoolgirl has today become the youngest athlete chosen to represent Wales at this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow
Teenage sprinter Hannah Brier, a Year 11 pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera, was sitting a GCSE examination this morning when the news was announced.
The Neath youngster came straight out of the examination hall to celebrate with her friends before returning for revision and practice sessions! She is now looking forward to representing Wales in the 4 x 100m relay event.
Headteacher Matthew Evans said the Swansea Harrier had the best wishes from everyone at the Swansea Valley school.
