RUMOURS circulating that an Ammanford function centre is no longer able to provide catering at events is “completely untrue” according to a spokeswoman.

The team behind the Aman Centre on Margaret Street – Amman Valley Centre Venture Ltd – have partnered with iSmooth community cafe, to take over all the catering needs at the centre.

“When our previous caterer left, people came up with the assumption we are no longer able to provide food at events, but this is far from the truth,” said the spokeswoman.

“The Amman centre is thriving, and with iSmooth’s involvement with the catering it is bigger and better than ever.”

iSmooth, a social enterprise, set up by Amman Valley Mencap, offers skills and training to people with learning difficulties, enabling them to lead a more independent life.

The organisation operates a successful community cafe in College Street and following recent government funding have now branched out in the external catering field.

The Aman Centre is available for all kinds of bookings from birthday parties to weddings, and corporate functions.

“We have the main hall with stage and a smaller lounge upstairs, that is hired out by different organisations,” said the spokeswoman.

“The building will be undergoing lots of work in the near future - there certainly are exciting times ahead.”

The Aman Centre has a website that is currently under construction, ammancentre.co.uk.
