A 22-YEAR-OLD Glanaman man has been jailed for one week after he admitted possessing one gramme of amphetamine.

Jamie Mark Taylor, of 43 Glyn y Deri, appeared before Llanelli magistrates via video link from Swansea prison where he is currently being held on remand pending trial on unrelated charges.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard Jones told the court how police carried out a stop-and-search of Taylor at 1.45am on December 7 under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

During the search, Taylor, formerly of Betws, handed over a small plastic wrap containing white powder.

In interview, Taylor admitted the powder was amphetamine and that he had bought the Class B drug for his own use.

Kate Williams, defending, told the court that Taylor “fully accepted” he had committed the offence.

She told the court that Taylor was currently being held on remand at Swansea prison pending a trial later this month.

Magistrates agreed to sentence Taylor to one week behind bars, to be served during his period on remand.

They also ordered that the drugs be destroyed.
