EMMA Edwards, wife of MP Jonathan Edwards, gave birth to a healthy baby boy in the early hours of this morning at West Wales General Hospital, Carmarthen.

Llywelyn Gruffudd Edwards, weighing 7lb 9oz, is the new addition to the Edwards' household, and brother to big sister, Abi.

Mr Edwards, who has been on 'standby' throughout the Parliamentary Christmas recess, drove anxiously back to Westminster on Monday morning to take part in a crucial debate on water devolution in Wales.

He travelled back to the constituency the next day having received a call to say that baby Edwards was on his way.

A spokesman from Jonathan Edwards' office said that both mother and baby Llywelyn were doing very well and that Mr Edwards was looking forward to having the family home very soon.

"Mr Edwards and his wife are particularly grateful to the staff of the Welsh Health Service for all of their care and support during the pregnancy", the spokesman added.
