THE closure of a mountain road throughout February will cause inconvenience for commuters travelling to Swansea from Ammanford, a Swansea City councillor has warned.
Cllr Ioan Richard spoke out after it emerged that a section of Rhydypandy Road – from Llangyfelach to Ammanford – would be closed for a period of four weeks.
"A lot of Ammanford motorists use that road both in the morning and evenings," Cllr Richard told the Guardian. "My understanding is that the closure is the result of the installation of a solar park at a farm near Morriston."
A Swansea City Council spokesman said: "A temporary road closure has been agreed with the applicant and it is anticipated the works will take approximately four weeks to complete.
"We will be meeting with the applicant early in the new year to look at ways to minimise the disruption for traffic."
