AN AMMANFORD woman who gave false details to a council officer after dropping a drinks can in the street has been ordered to pay a total of £350.

Katie Louise Bostock, aged 19, of Folland Road, Garnant, was convicted in her absence to an offence under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Council environmental enforcement officers were travelling along Bigyn Road in Llanelli on May 22 when they saw a woman drop a drinks can onto the pavement.

The officers stopped the car, explained that she had committed an offence and asked for her name, date of birth and address so that a fixed penalty notice could be issued.

It later became apparent that the woman had provided false details; however, the officers saw her again at a later date outside Ty Elwyn and escorted her to Llanelli police station.

Bostock was fined £135 by Carmarthen magistrates and ordered to pay £200 towards prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “The council is serious about punishing people who break the law in this way."
