Llanelli and District Snooker League Round Up

One of the games of the week saw unbeaten Llandybie RFC preserve their perfect start in the Llanelli Snooker First Division thanks to a hard-fought 4-3 win against Morfa.

Wins from Kieran Peregrine, Mark Bowen, Dylan Jones and Rhodri Treharne secured the result for Llandybie despite Keith Moore’s 53 break for Morfa.

New Lodge A earned their best win of the season, battering Matchroom A 7-0, courtesy of M Tucker, Ivan Wallace, M John, Cliff Wilcox, Phil Thickett and Brian Webber.

Upper Tumble Blues crashed 7-0 at Matchroom B, while Electric C earned a fine 4-3 win against Legion Whites.

S Wright prevented the whitewash as winless Snooker World A lost 6-1 to Pontarddulais Workmens’. Steve Dunn, Adam Griffiths, Duane Griffiths, Steve Davies and Peter Hopkins won for Bont.

Paul Doughton, Steve Doughton (35) and Simon Williams (27 clearance) gave Pont Cons A a 4-3 win at Penygroes RFC, who hit back via J Jones, Chris Waters and Paul Garritty.

Elsewhere, Anthony Pritchard made a 65 break in Llanesco B’s 6-1 success over Cross Hands B. Only Alex Dickie won for the latter.

In Division Two, early leaders Reading Room Reds crashed 6-1 at Bryn, so Garnant Club went top after a 7-0 win against Llanesco A, courtesy of Nick Davies, Stuart Dunn, Rhys Fisher, Euros Griffiths, Lyn Hopkin and Steve Lewis.

New Lodge B earned a first win, 4-3 at Tycroes RFC B, thanks to Archie Davies, Phil Lee and Terry Morgan. Arwyn Rees, D Jones and Martin Davies won for Tycroes.

Meanwhile, Llanelli Cons B won 6-1 at Gorseinon Workmens. Only Mark Rees won for the Brighton Road men.

Electric B edged an aggregate 4-3 win at Carway A, whereas CGMD were grateful to Nigel Powney, Rhodri Llewelyn and R Evans, winners in a narrow 4-3 win against Pontyberem Workmens’, whose winning trio were Alun Harris, Kieran Evans and Kevin Sellwood.

In Division Three, C Howells and Kevin Lewis won for Ponthenri Social, still looking for a maiden win after going down 4-3 at Cross Hands C. Jeff Howells, Brian Jones, Alun James and Jimmy Thomas won for the home side.

Elsewhere, Lyn Morgan, Geoff Jones, Matthew James, Arwyn Pritchard and Richard Griffiths helped Cross Hands A see off Pont Cons C 6-1. Geraint Thomas was Bont’s solitary frame-winner.

Llandeilo Hall won for the first time, beating Snooker World B 5-2, with wins from Dai Lewis, Bob Cash, Tim Walters (33 break) and Adam Challis. Craig Paull and Alun Ashmund were on top for the Ammanford side.

All teams are reminded that entry fees for the league must be in by November 30.
