Members of Ammanford fire crew were called to Quay Street today (Wednesday) to remove a For Sale which was in danger of falling on shoppers.
The sign, above Cash Solutions in the former Lloyds Bank building on the corner of Quay Street and Wind Street, had become unsafe following high winds.
Carmarthenshire county councilor Deian Harries had been alerted to the problem by Ammanford town mayor Irena Hopkins and contacted emergency services.
“The town mayor contacted me so I came to take a look and immediately contacted the emergency services,” Cllr Harries told the Guardian.
“I could see the sign was hanging off.
“It was clearly dangerous and could easily have fallen.
“If it had hit someone walking below they would have suffered quite a injury.
“Fortunately, the fire crew arrived very quickly.”
