The case against an Amman Valley man accused of drink-driving has been adjourned because he is on holiday – at Butlins.
Bleddyn Griffiths, of 43 Heol y Gelynen in Upper Brynaman, had been due to appear before Llanelli magistrates court on Thursday.
The 51-year-old stands accused of driving a Rover 45 on Ger-yr-Afon in Gwaun cae Gurwen on September 21 with 47 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Defence solicitor Gareth Jones told magistrates that Griffiths was not present for the hearing as he was away on a family holiday.
When questioned over the destination, Mr Jones told the court: “He has gone to Butlins.”
“It is not as if he has left the country then,” said the clerk to the court.
However, Mr Jones replied: “It does not matter where he is, it is a pre-booked holiday and he has gone away with his family.”
Magistrates adjourned the hearing until October 17.
