A LLANDYBIE mum and her two kids have told how they filmed an apparent tornado during a heavy storm over the village yesterday afternoon.
Rachel Morgan and daughters Amber, 10, and Charis, 9, watched in astonishment as the "twister" emerged from a dark cloud at around 4pm – and managed to video and grab photos of the strange formation.
“I saw this strange cloud through my bedroom window and me and Charis raced outside to see," said Amber. “I thought it was a tornado, I was freaked out but also really excited.”
Charis said: "My mum gave us a camera and we took some photos. We couldn’t believe what we were seeing, it was amazing – I was a little frightened though.”
Mum Rachel described how they could see the funnel revolving. "It kept getting bigger and bigger," she said. "I rang my mum and she told us to batten down the hatches."
Meteorological experts says the "tornado" was actually a funnel cloud, although several locals – including Carmarthenshire county council leader Kevin Madge – took photos of what they believed to be a tornado.
