A FORMER Llandybie man has been warned he faces a 15-year jail sentence after a jury yesterday convicted him of raping a young girl.
Philip Adrian Morgan, aged 45, was found guilty unanimously by a jury following a trial at Swansea Crown Court.
Judge Peter Heywood said he would sentence Morgan on August 20 after a probation officer had compiled a report into whether Morgan posed a danger to young females.
Judge Heywood said he might have to pass an extended sentence to protect the public.
The starting point for his offending was 15 years, added the judge.
Morgan had denied the charges.
He showed no reaction as the jury foreman announced the verdict but a woman in the public gallery whispered “yes.”
Judge Heywood told Morgan he would pass a “considerable sentence of a substantial number of years in jail.”
Morgan was remanded in custody until then.
