ADVICE SURGERY - Garnant’s local member County Cllr Kevin Madge’s next Advice Surgery will be at Cwmaman Day Centre today, Wednesday, July 17(11-11.30am).

RAINBOWS AND GUIDES - Cwmaman Rainbows and Guides are recruiting new members. Rainbows (girls aged 5-7) meet at 4.45pm at Glanaman Community Centre, and the Brownies (girls aged 7-10) meet on Thursdays (6pm) at Glanamman Guide/Scout Hall.

GARDEN FETE - Garnant Family Centre would like to invite you to their Garden Fete on Saturday, July 20 from 11am to 3pm at the Community Garden, Maesybedol, Garnant, Ammanford, SA18 2EP. It will be an enjoyable day for all the family, and we would really appreciate your support. VOLUNTEERS WANTED! Cwmamman Meals on Wheels Service is in urgent need of new volunteer-drivers to help distribute meals to the elderly and most vulnerable in the Cwm. Anyone who can spare an hour here or there to help, please contact Priscilla Jones on 01269 824184.

OLD TOYS, WELLIES WANTED - Ysgol y Bedol’s Nursery is collecting old toys and garden wellies for use in the outdoor play area during playtime. Any contributions will be gratefully received.

FOLLY FARM TRIP - Youngsters from Ysgol y Bedol Nursery throroughly enjoyed their trip to Folly Farm near Tenby recently.

CRAFTWORK - Nursery pupils at Ysgol y Bedol had fun creating duck-magnets,making them by cooking in the microwave. Unfortunately though, Mrs Morgan’s magnet caused an unexpected fire drill.

FANTASTIC - Ysgol y Bedol’s kitchen has been awarded a fantastic level 5 in Food-Hygiene; a big well-done to Karen and all her staff.

BREAKFAST CLUB - Breakfast Club at Ysgol y Bedol is free (Mondays to Fridays 8am-8.50). The Breakfast Club is always looking for relief staff ; please contact Melanie Rees (01269 820558) for more details.

CWMAMAN SENIO CITIZENS - The local branch will meet tomorrow (Thursday) at the Community Centre, new members welcomed.

Our trip is to Tenby on July 31, the coach departing from the Raven stop at 10am. Please contact Ann (822699) if you would like to come along with us. A speedy recovery to members in hospital or ill at home at the moment.

REMEMBERING THE PALAIS - The local authority is working on text and images for the interpretation panels for the newly-developed Palais site in Garnant.

They are interested in the following information however: a)When did the British Legion stop meeting at “Haig Hall”?

b) When the Palais stop being used for social events, it being a popular social club in the 1950s/60s.

They are also looking for photos relating to the Palais when it was in use in its heyday,though they do have one from the opening ceremony in 1934. They are also looking for adverts or posters from events held there, that could be included on the Panel to make it even more interesting. CHARITY POOL EVENT - It’s back-The Best Pool player in the Valley tournament will be held at the Half Moon Inn, Garnant on Saturday, August 24 from 7pm, with prizes etc. Also, a live band, a running buffet, all welcomed. All proceeds towards MacMillan Cancer Care.
