Corgi to be part of festival at palace
CORGI Hosiery, Ammanford’s luxury hosiery and knitwear manufacturer, will join a select group of fellow royal warrant holders taking part in a fourday festival at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Queen’s Coronation in July.
Corgi is one of the few Welsh companies participating in this summer’s event which will celebrate the innovation, excellence and industry shown by those fine brands which have earned the recognition of a royal warrant.
The firm, which was established in 1892, was awarded its royal warrant by The Prince of Wales in 1989.
The prince has been an ardent supporter of the family company and has visited its factory in Pantyffynnon.
Corgi director Chris Jones said: “We are thrilled to be taking part in the festival – it truly is an honour to be involved.
“We are looking forward to meeting our fellow warrant holders at what is sure to be a great occasion.”
During the four-day Coronation Festival, visitors to the Corgi exhibition stand in the grounds of Buckingham Palace will be treated to a live hosiery-making demonstration by the great-grandson of the company’s founder, Rhys Jones.
Corgi will also be exhibiting a new limited edition range, specially developed to coincide with the festival, as well as socks and knitwear from its current range – designed and produced in Ammanford but sold all over the world.
