Concern continues over age of Central Line’s rolling stock

A LLANDYBIE community councillor believes all rolling stock used by Arriva Trains on the Central Line is over twenty years old.

Cllr Pat Tiddy was commenting on last week’s Guardian report on how twenty passengers were marooned on a mountain top for several hours after their engine broke down.

In a letter to Arriva Trains, Llandybie passenger Meirion Bowen accused them of running trains “past their sell-buy date” and raising the risk of a breakdown.

“Their rolling stock is all over twenty years old and we should write and tell Arriva Trains of our concerns,” said Cllr Tiddy.

Council chairman Ian Llewelyn agreed it was worth a try. “There’s no harm in writing but I’m not sure what kind of response we’ll get from them,” he said.
