Capel Hendre villagers to be polled over ancient post box
VILLAGERS in Capel Hendre are being asked whether they want to keep an ancient postbox dating back to the reign of King George V.
The post box, situated on Hendre Road, is set to be replaced.
Royal Mail say users have stated it is too small.
But local county councillor Alun Davies, who describes the post box an “an important part of the village’s history”, is nowcarrying out an opinion poll to discover whether the community want to retain it.
“I’ve been contacted by residents who want to see the post box remain in the village – irrespective of whether it continues to operate as part of Royal Mail’s collection network,” he said.
“I’m committed to ensuring residents have their say and urge them to contact me with their views.”
