DOG fouling remains a serious issue on the field of Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, town councillors have been told.
Cllr Martin Davies said staff had to check the condition of the school field before sports day could be held.
Cllr Davies was responding to the disclosure that Phillip Davies, Carmarthenshire County Council’s head of protection, had “noted” reports of rodent problems in Ammanford while instructing officers to distribute advice leaflets regarding stray dogs.
He added that the authority was considering locking the gates leading to the secondary school field in an effort to combat dog fouling.
“They tried that before but the locks were smashed off,”
replied Cllr Davies. “When they have the school sports day staff have to go out and check to see if there’s any mess there.”
