DYFED Powys Police have now confirmed that the body of a 25-year-old man from the Brynaman area has been recovered from the River Aman.
A spokeswoman said the man was seen to enter the river at the bridge near Brynaman RFC at around 3.45am this morning (Thursday).
A full-scale search and rescue operation was launched involving Dyfed Powys Police, Mid and West Wales Fire and Recsue, Brecon Mountain Rescue and the helicopter from RAF Chivenor.
"The body was found shortly before 8am this morning near the Nant Gwyn Bridge further downstream," added the spokeswoman.
Next of kin and HM Coroner have been informed.
