A BODY was recovered from the River Amman this morning, it has been confirmed.
It follows reports of a person in the water at Brynaman after the alarm was raised in the early hours.
The Dyfed Powys Police helicopter was scrambled and officers drafted in to the area to search the waterway and its banks.
Firefighters and rescue teams set up a makeshift base alongside the Job Centre in Betws as the search progressed downstream.
The Guardian understands that a body - thought to be that of a young man - was recovered from the river a short while ago.
