First published in News

A CELEBRATORY concert is to be held to commemorate the induction of Canon Michael Rees as vicar of the parish of Betws-cum- Ammanford.

The event is due to take place at Ammanford Miners’ Theatre on Friday, February 22, from 7.30pm.

The evening is set to begin with an official welcome by the Venerable Roger Hughes, Archdeacon of Carmarthen.

A programme of entertainment is due to follow, including performances by Cor Merched Tybie, with their musical director Desna Pemberton.

Piano recitals by Gerald Jones will also provide the opportunity to enjoy the venue’s Bechstein concert grand piano, which was acquired by the Miner’s Theatre last year.

Multi-talented musician Melody Meadows will take the opportunity to showcase her skills as flautist while young soprano Frances Morgan, a 15-year-old pupil at Ysgol Maes yr Yrfa, will provide a solo performance.

Tickets, £8, are available from church members with all proceeds donated to parish funds.

It will clear the cobwebs off the seats.
It might start a new era for sparking similar events in the future.
