STAFF at Brynaman Public Hall and Institute are celebrating the news they will receive £91,072 to develop a space on the ground floor and transform it into a second screening area for their cinema.

The cash boost is part of over £1 million of funding from the Welsh Government’s Community Facilities and Activities Programme offering grants to local projects that improve buildings for use by the local community.

Carl Sargeant, Minister for Social Justice and Local Government, said: “These grants are not simply about improving buildings. Local clubs and centres can be the hub of the community where people, young and old, get together and enjoy social activities.

“Whether small or large, CFAP funding has a beneficial impact upon the day-to-day lives of local people.”

The Community Facilities and Activities Programme was launched in 2002 and to date has funded 875 projects totalling over £100 million.
