A COUNTY councillor holds out little prospect of a swimming pool being included at the new “superschool’ earmarked for Ffairfach.
Cllr Anthony Jones told Llandybie community councillors there was no provision for such a facility in funds provided by the Welsh Government.
He was reacting to reports that Dyffryn Cennen community councillors were lobbying for a swimming pool to be part of the newschool.
“The easy answer to that is that there’s no money in the pot to provide a swimming pool,” said Cllr Jones.
“I’d love a swimming pool there – who wouldn’t? – but it was not deemed suitable from the Welsh Government budget.”
Cllr Bryan Rees commented: “Surely, in a new state-of-the-art school, there should be a provision for a swimming pool?”
