SINGING SUCCESS: Carmarthenshire Secondary Schools Choir have come a long way in a short time.
PUPILS from secondary schools across Carmarthenshire have sung their way to success in the semi-finals of the S4C Côr Cymru 2013.
Carmarthenshire Secondary Schools Choir, which only formed three months ago, will be competing for a place in the final next month.
The choir is run by the council’s music service, its members are female pupils from all secondary schools in the county, and it is under the baton of peripatetic music teacher Islwyn Evans.
Service coordinator for Carmarthenshire Gareth Kirby said he was delighted with the achievement of the choir.
“This is the first time that the county music service has entered the competition and we have progressed to the semi-finals – we are very proud of the pupils and the staff involved,” he said.
The next round will take place in Aberystwyth in February and will be televised shortly afterwards.
