SAFETY fears over the old Betws mine site have been eased, community councillors have learned.
Alderman Arnallt James told colleagues he and county councillor Ryan Bartlett had recently met with county council officer Keith James at the Glyncywarch site.
“Mr James said the site is safe,” he said. “But if the tipping there goes on and on and one there’s going to be trouble.”
But Cllr Bartlett said the amount of remaining tipping was “minimal”.
He added: “The officer said this site is more or less safe because of the structure of the drainage and the fact it’s monitored on a regular basis.
“It hopefully will be finished before too long – the problem with this site is that there’s no completion date.”
