Arthritis sufferer grew own cannabis
1:00pm Thursday 13th December 2012 in News
A POLICE officer checking the garden of an occupied house in Glanaman noticed “the strong smell of cannabis” wafting from a garden shed, Llanelli magistrates were told.
The policeman’s keen sense of smell led to the discovery of 16 cannabis plants, along with electric fans and lighting, the court heard.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan recounted how – as a result of their discovery at 8 Maes y Glyn – officers subsequently visited a house in nearby Ger Yr Afon where they found a further 33 cannabis plants in another garden shed.
The twin haul led to Ellis Daniel Davies, aged 57, of 7 Ger Yr Afon, being charged with two counts of cannabis production.
He pleaded guilty to both and was given a 12-month community sentence with a supervision requirement.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan said the offences came to light on September 22. Davies said he lived at Ger Yr Afon and “had some responsibility” for the property at Maes y Glyn.
“I was cultivating cannabis for my own use,” Davies told officers.
“I suffer from arthritis and cannabis alleviates the pain. I’m not a seller of the drug, I’m a user and I hold my hands up to it.”
Davies added that he had set up the twin operation two months previously after “reading up on the Internet how to do it properly”.
Mike Reed, in mitigation, said his client had co-operated fully with police.
“The pain he suffers from is great, but the heavy medication has a lot of side-effects so he decided to use cannabis,” he added.
“There are all sorts of discussions going on over the use of cannabis as a pain-killer.”
Davies was ordered to pay £85 court costs.

Cannabis is a relatively safe substance with remarkable medicinal properties.
This is a the policy of a corrupt government funded by the alcohol lobby and the unlawful GW Pharmaceuticals monopoly on medicinal cannabis.

Why? Well Gwpharma sell the worlds most expensive cannabis, 10 times the 'normal' price.
Even though growing your own would deprive criminals of a large income, and grower could grow strains to suit their condition, and would know whats gone in to it, and could monitor and control it, and instead of giving criminals money, they give it to gardening stores, this still will not do. The company who sells the worlds most expensive cannabis would not be pleased, if people could grow this medicine at home for next to nothing. And our leaders prioritize Vested interest, greed and cowardice over any harm reduction plan. Its an outrage. For get drug dealing scumbags, our government are the real gangsters

Unfortunately in this case, the threshhold of plants took this poor gentlemen out of that equation but I do think that Wales with its huge social conscious will be the first court to do the decent thing and send a message to those gutless politicians that the Welsh people will not tolerate sick and disabled people being persecuted for growing their own medicine.
It is an outrage that in the this day and age with all the science that this law remains in force, it is as outdated as the law against homosexuality.
So please could we have some lobbying of our Magistrates here urging them to do the decent thing?

If the magistrates in Wales do start to implement with vigour the new sentencing guidlines and discharge medicinal cannabis user this will not only send a message to our MP's but also to the CPS who quite frankly are acting with malice the more I think about this case.
How much money was wasted in bringing Mr Davies to court? £85?

How many plants do you need to grow for your own use 16+33 plants?
That would suggest quite a pain problem if you get my meaning.
Well done for getting away with this one - good ploy :-)
