Firefighters blaze charity trail

FIREFIGHTERS from Tumble Fire Station have handed over a cheque for nearly £5,000 to The Firefighters’ Charity.

The money was raised at the station’s open day in June and was the culmination of more than six months’ hard work and planning.

The open day, attended by more than 500 people, provided residents with key safety messages and an insight into the world of firefighters.

There were firefighting demonstrations and the crews provided a number of activities and stalls to raise money.

Head of Carmarthenshire county command, Rob Quin, who accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity said: “The firefighters from Tumble have a grand tradition of charity fundraising.

“I am very proud of the efforts they made this year, not only in raising a fantastic amount of money, but through the professional way in which they opened the station doors to the community to provide an insight into the important work that they do.”
