BUSINESSES and organisations in Ammanford have really got behind the Christmas Toybox scheme.

The scheme has been launched by the county council to help local families in need this Christmas.

A number of local businesses and organisations are supporting the scheme, including Amman Valley Hospital, Tesco in Ammanford and Ammanford Fire Station.

The Guardian office in Quay Street and Ammanford Town Hall are two local collection points Carmarthenshire county council is working with local organisations to deliver the initiative.

People are asked to donate new toys for children and young people aged from birth to 16.

They must be new for health and safety reasons, and the recommended cost is £5 upwards.

Anyone who donates is asked to tell people via Twitter using the hashtag #toyboxticked and copying in @CarmsCCPress if you can.

Carmarthenshire’s deputy leader, Cllr PamPalmer, said: “We are really grateful for the support we have had and for the generosity of people giving the gifts.

“Please keep giving – these toys mean so much to families in need this Christmas, and if you’re on Twitter please let us know when you’ve donated to encourage more people to help if they can.”
