Wetherspoons re-affirms move to Ammanford

PUB giant JD Wetherspoon confirmed this week that it is still going to open a venue in Ammanford.

The Guardian revealed last year that the nationwide chain was planning to take over The Cottage in Wind Street.

But a lack of apparent progress has given rise to rumours that the deal has been called off.

Now a Wetherspoon spokesman has confirmed to the Guardian that the deal is still very much on.

“At this stage, we can confirm that JD Wetherspoon has exchanged contracts on the site in Ammanford. However, it is still subject to the landlord obtaining vacant possession,” he added.

“The current building owners – not Wetherspoon – need to vacate any existing tenants before the deal can proceed any further.”
