Drivers ‘gambling with their cars’

ROADBLOCK: A car seen blocking Ammanford bus station.
‘INCONSIDERATE’ drivers blocking Ammanford bus station are in danger of having their cars towed away.
For the second time in a week, a car was abandoned at the barrier of the new bus station and buses were unable to leave for 11 minutes causing delays to services.
Carmarthenshire council enforcement officers can penalise drivers and police prosecutethemor towthe vehicles away for obstruction.
A spokesman for the council said there was parking nearby but some drivers were abandoning their vehicles inside or blocking the barriers to the bus station. There had even been examples of cars driving into the ‘no go for car’ bus station when barriers raised to let buses out.
The whole point of eliminating cars and pedestrians from the bus lanes is to impose a tight safety regime, the spokesman said.
“Unfortunately we have some inconsiderate driverswhoare taking chances and willing to gamble with their lives and vehicles,” the spokesman added.
