Rock ’n’ roll legend Joe Brown still going strong
10:00am Wednesday 3rd October 2012 in What's On
THIS month sees rock ’n’ roll legend Joe Brown perform at Swansea Grand Theatre.
Joe was one of the original rock ’n’ roll stars to come out of the UK and one of the first UK session men.
His early career highlights include playing guitar with Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Cash and other US stars when they came over to Europe.
Joe then went on to top the charts with his own records, had The Beatles open shows for him and, in a career packed with musical highlights, he also presented several national series of The Joe Brown Show on UK TV and two series of the Rock Show for BBC Radio 2.
His Very Best Of album released in 2008 achieved a Gold Record for 120,000 sales and was in the UK charts for eight weeks, four weeks in the Top 20. In September of the same year his 50th anniversary was celebrated with a wonderful sell-out show at the Royal Albert Hall. Joe has continued to break box office records and recently received MOJO magazine’s coveted Outstanding Contribution to Music Award, as well as a much-deserved MBE.
Packed with timeless classics, rockabilly, gospel, country, folk, and rock ’n’ roll, all interwoven with Joe’s effervescent delivery and humourous reminiscences, this sensational show is a musical journey not to be missed.
Tickets for the Tuesday, October 16, show can be purchased from Swansea Grand Theatre Box Office on 01792 475715 or at www.swanseagrand.co.uk and are £25 with selected concessions available.
Starts at 7.30pm.
