South Wales duo set to entertain at folk club
9:20am Thursday 28th June 2012 in What's On
FOLK duo Andrew McKay and Carol Etherton are to be Valley Folk Club’s next guest artists on June 29 at the Ivy Bush Hotel, Pontardawe.
Born in South Wales, Andrew has been singing at folk clubs and playing the obscure crane duet concertina for more years than he cares to remember.
A visit to Horsham Folk Club in the late 1990s introduced Carole to folk music.
Carole especially enjoyed being at the Lancaster Festival in 2004 when she met Andrew, who was performing with Baggyrinkle, whom he had sang with for several years - their wedding was in April 2006! Carole now lives with Andrew in beautiful Gower.
The duo will be supported by young Swansea musician Sarah Passmore.
Influenced by Laura Marling, Johnny Flynn, John Mayer, KT Tunstall, Rufus Wainwright, Leonard Cohen, Jack Johnson andMatt Costa, her songs tell of an experience unique in one so young.
An evening not to be missed.
The event starts at 8pm, tickets are £5, contact Huw Pudner on 01792 425231.
