IT'S back - Escape Into The Park hits Singleton park on Saturday, June 13 and with the eyes of the British dance music industry once again focusing on the event, organisers have hailed the Welsh talent that will be taking to the decks alongside the crème de la crème of the UK dance scene.
Big name acts like Eric Prydz, Lisa Lashes, Tidy Boys and Judge Jules may be topping the bill at this year’s event, which is Wales’ biggest dance music festival, but according to Neil Navarra, Brand Manager for Escape Into The Park, it is the local talent like Big Al, Cally and Juice, Leighton Brookfield and Dave Eaves who will help to generate a unique Welsh atmosphere that allows Escape Into The Park to stand out from the other summer dance festivals.
Swansea born Navarra, who is himself set to perform in front of 20,000 clubbers on the Main Stage, says that Wales is home to some exceptional DJ talent and that the local names on the bill are there on merit, not just because they are Welsh. “Some of the most exciting talent in the industry right now happens to be Welsh and I’m delighted to say that some of that talent will be on display at Escape Into The Park" he said.
“Wales really is punching above its weight when it comes to producing DJ talent."
Big Al has been described by dance legend Paul Oakenfold as ‘the most underrated DJ in Britain, he’s up there with the best in the world’. As well as performing at every Escape Into The Park since the festival began in 2000, Swansea born DJ Big Al has picked up a host of honours including being voted ‘Best UK Resident DJ’ by Radio 1 listeners.
Speaking about this year’s Escape Into The Park, Big Al said: “It’s always a fantastic event that is right up there in the dance music calendar and I love playing there as it is a home gig for me. South Wales has always had a lively dance music scene, and the success of Escape Into The Park has firmly helped to put us on the map to the wider audience."
