RED Snapper - described as one of the most forward thinking and ground-breaking bands in the UK are set to perform at Pontardawe Arts Centre next Friday, May 9.
Their unique blend of instrumental Afro-Jazz, funk and hip-hop has gained them a huge live reputation across the world. Their eight albums to date, include Making Bones, Our Aim is To Satisfy and Prince Blimey on Warp Records and their most recent album Key which was released in 2011 on V2 records.
Over the years Red Snapper have worked with the likes of Massive Attack, The Prodigy, Bjork and The Fugees and they continue to search for new directions to take their music in.
They return to Pontardawe Arts Centre, where, last April, they performed their newly composed score to the classic Senegalese film 'Touki Bouki'.
This special night will be an exclusive showcase of tracks from their new album 'Hyena' which will be released later this year on LO recordings. Hyena is about The Africa that is in all of us.
Pontardawe Arts Centre are honoured that Red Snapper have chosen to return to Pontardawe to give the audience the experience of being one of the first to hear tracks from the new album. Pontardawe Arts Centre along with The South Bank in London were the only two UK venues to have the privilege of being used for the live soundtrack of Touki Bouki. Support comes from local artist Dai Sharkey.
