LEADING Welsh sporano Elin Manahan Thomas, who was forced to withdraw from last year’s Llandeilo Fawr Festival of Music due to illness, keeps her pledge to return to the Towy Valley town by giving a concert at St Teilo’s Church on Saturday.

With her most recent recording Vivaldi having been awarded five stars by BBC Music Magazine, this is a singer at the very summit of her career and Elin’s visit to Llandeilo has already sparked numerous inquiries for tickets.

What has excited music-lovers even more, however, is the news that Elin will be partnered by her husband, the acclaimed baritone Robert Davies, who during the past decade has been acquiring a truly international reputation with critically praised performances at some of Europe’s leading opera houses and concert halls.

Elin and Robert have been working on an exciting new concert repertoire and the audience at St Teilo’s will be among the first to hear it.

With Jeffrey Howard (of Only Men Aloud fame) being the pianist on the night, this will undoubtedly be a concert to savour and one that will live long in the memory.

Tickets, priced at £15, can be obtained from Peppercorn, Llandeilo, on 01558 822410 or from Morgan’s Newsagent at Llangadog or by ringing 01269 594303.
