DON Quixote will stroll into Ammanford to tilt at windmills, in a boisterous new play by Hijinx Theatre.
Hijinx Theatre is bringing The Adventures of Sancho Panza, a new play based on the epic tale Don Quixote, to the Miners’ Theatre, Ammanford, on Saturday, November 10, at 7.30pm.
It is a vibrant, contemporary adaptation of Cervantes’ Don Quixote, with a fantastic retelling of the story through the eyes of Quixote’s put-upon companion Sancho.
The story follows the pair across an array of ordinary and extraordinary places and times.
This unlikely pair – a comically idealistic knight and a modern young man – meet bandits, beasts, barbers and more, on a journey of surprising discovery for Sancho.
It promises audiences a night of thoroughly enjoyable theatre.
The cast of five professional actors, including those with learning disabilities, conjures up the limitless imagination of Don Quixote through evocative live music and innovative use of masks and puppetry. The show is set to make the audience want to cry, laugh and get up and dance – all in the space of 75 minutes!
Director James Williams said: “Wehave a fantastic cast, a graceful and poetic script and some very catchy songs. Audiences are in for a real treat.”
