FOR A thrilling night out, which will also help raise funds for a vital local service, make a date in your dairy for Amman Valley Women’s Aid Charity Fire Walk at 7pm on Saturday, March 31.

Held at Betws Rugby Club, the exciting event fromBlaze Firewalk Challenge will see brave volunteers sponsored to walk across a 20ft x 3ft path of ash heated to a sizzling 1,236 degrees.

The 38 hardy souls who have been training their soles in preparation for their hot date include staff members Tara and Becky, who have organised the event.

Says Tara: “Apparently, metal burns at a lower heat than the pit and it will be the first fire walk held in Ammanford.

“We are so proud of everyone who has agreed to take part. Men and women from across the area have signed up and we have an entry flying fromBerlin. They have been so busy fundraising and we have raised £3,555 already, but hope to top £5,000.

“We want people to come along and support the event by sponsoring or buying tickets – It’s going to be an amazing night.”

As well as the fire walk, there will be a raffle, refreshments and entertainment.

Amman Valley Women’s Aid offers women and children crisis accommodation and community support services to women, men and children within the Ammanford area.

They also offer a whole range of activities and services and run numerous programmes aimed at helping families.

Tickets for the fire walk are available now costing £5 advance or £6 on the night, subject to availability.
