Katie Melua has announced an extensive European tour to follow the release of her fourth studio album in May.

The tour, which will start in France on October 16, will include 13 shows in Britain in December and end in Bristol on December 21, stopping off at Cardiff International Arena on December 12.

Having spent 2009 writing for the album, including teaming up with Guy Chambers among others, Katie, pictured, is in the studio finishing the as-yet-untitled record with producer William Orbit.

Orbit has been running a commentary of the sessions on Twitter and Facebook including “this is shaping up to be one of the finest things I’ve ever been involved with. I am hearing what can only be described as magic.”
