Finish your summer off with a bang as Merlin Youth Theatre present Thoroughly Modern Millie, by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd, 12 - 15 September at Carmarthen's Lyric Theatre.
This Welsh youth theatre premier, based on the popular movie starring Julie Andrews, is full of bright dance numbers and includes brand new finger-clicking, toe tapping songs to tell the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who goes to New York to marry for money rather than love.
And what a thoroughly modern aim in 1922, when women were only just entering the workforce! Millie throws herself whole-heartedly into the flapper lifestyle but runs into trouble after checking into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China, the mysterious and sinister Mrs. Meers.
Will she help her friend escape Mrs. Meers' fiendish clutches? Will she fall victim herself? In fact, will she marry the man of her dreams?
