Carmarthen Male Voice Choir celebrate their 60th Anniversary at the Gwili Railway

On Thursday, May 17, Gwili Railway were proud to host the 60th Anniversary of the Carmarthen Male Voice Choir. Over 40 members and family were in attendance with special VIP guest Brian Jones and his wife Helen.

The choir choose the railway to celebrate by booking the famous Gwili Strawberry Cream Tea service.

Group tour manager Jeremy John along with his dedicated volunteers served local scones, Little Grandma’s Kitchen jams, clotted cream and Welsh butter all washed down with Welsh Brew loose leaf tea served the old fashioned way.

The guests were treated to a tour of the site at Llwyfan Cerrig before disembarking at the new Abergwili Junction Station for a rousing sing song and cutting of the cake with Janet Jones,Chair of CMC Ladies Committee and CMC President Jeff Thoma. The members of the choir were presented with bespoke gilet jackets supplied and designed by Evans and Wilkins of Carmarthen.

Brian Jones of Castell Howell was also invited by Scott Artus Communication Director to unveil a commemorative plaque to celebrate his sponsorship and of the Gwili Dan Do shed appeal and for his help at the Welsh Food Festival. Dewi Jones, CMC Chairman and Carriage and Wagon Head of dept is pictured alongside Carmarthen Town Council Mayor Emlyn Schiavone and Brian with his wife Helen.
