One of the breakout stars from this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival is bringing her critically acclaimed and truly exceptional debut stand up show ‘On Record’ to the Swansea Valley this summer.

Bolton born Sophie Willan grew up in and out of the Care System. At 23, the state unexpectedly handed over all of her personal records.

In a deeply personal show, she explores who she is today through the eyes of the numerous experts that assessed her growing up.

As an adult Sophie has rarely managed to play by the rules. She tells us how mental health issues are rife in her family and talks openly about her mother’s addiction to heroin, resulting in drug induced schizophrenia.

She deftly guides the audience through the hereditary implications of psychosis and schizophrenia, discussing how this has influenced who she is today.

Both engagingly honest yet darkly optimistic, each moment is delivered through Sophie’s razor sharp and totally authentic comic voice. A force to be reckoned with, she exudes confidence and northern charm.

Having only started performing stand up in 2015, Sophie's refreshing comic style has already taken her to numerous competition finals including the prestigious Amused Moose Laugh Off and The Magners New Act, where she was crowned winner.

In the last 12 months Sophie has notched up an astonishing number of TV and radio credits including being the comic in residence on 'Up Late With Rylan' on Channel 5, seeing her never fail to induce hysterics week after week.

The comedienne heads to Pontardawe Arts Centre on June 23.
