THERE’S a chance to grab a beautiful bargain this weekend at Derwen Fairs’ Vintage and Retro event. Derwen Fairs have been running antique fairs for more than 17 years and last year launched their new vintage event in Carmarthen.

The three fairs proved a recipe for success mixing traditional antiques with vintage and retro

The Vintage era spanned 2 world wars and the fashion coming out of those eras was both chic and stylish.

Eras like the Roaring 20’s and Fabulous 40’s seemed to inspire designers coming out of those war periods.

Reviewing the items, we see how the modern generation are inspired by the fashion trends of those eras and are now using the style in their own individual way.

These new vintage and retro fairs are being staged at St Peters Civic Hall in the centre of Carmarthen.

The theme will be harping back to the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, with stands showcasing stylish ladies and men’s fashion.

The emphasis will be on affordable vintage clothing and accessories. There will also vintage collections of home wares, furnishings and retro furniture, mixed in with vintage inspired jewellery and children’s toys.

A hugely popular area of collecting is in vintage tools. Collections range from garden trowels and carpentry planes, to rare Peat cutting spade made by the Rolls Royce of tool makers “ Elwell “ Edward Elwell leased Wednesbury Forge in Sheffield in 1817 and continued to make quality edged tools until well into the 20 century. Alongside these rare tools will be vintage fishing tackle.

The whole atmosphere will be nostalgic and to compliment the occasion, there will be on offer a vintage themed tea party, where visitors can treat themselves to a traditional cuppa in true vintage style.

The first fair of 2016 will be held on Saturday, February 6, from 10am until 5pm at the St Peters Civic Hall, Notts Square.

Admission is £2 for adults .Parking can be found either in St Peters Carpark opposite the church or in County Hall Carpark.

Further fairs are planned for the first Saturday in May and July.
