HOLLYWOOD actress Carey Mulligan, who has strong family links with Llandeilo, stars in Far From the Madding Crowd, based on the literary classic by Thomas Hardy.

In Victoria England independent and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan), attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching wilfulness; Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge), a handsome and reckless sergeant; and William Boldwood (Michael Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor.

This timeless story of Bathsheba’s choices and passions explores the nature of relationships and love – as well as the human ability to overcome hardships through resilience and perseverance.

Far From the Madding Crowd (12A) is now showing in Brynaman cinema until Wednesday, May 13, at 7.15pm (not Sunday evening) with matinee’s on Saturday and Sunday, May 9-10, at 3pm.
