Cwmamman United came away from their trip to Penlan with three points.

In a thrilling victory at the Mynydd Newydd Playing Field, Penlan AFC was overcome 4-3 by a determined and ingenious Cwmamman side.

Previously, Penlan held an enviable 10-game unbeaten run and had qualified for the West Wales Cup final with aspirations of defending the title.

As the day's play began, Penlan was the only team with a potential shot at catching Rockspur in the league.

Alas, this changed as their defeat to Cwmamman and Rockspur's victory at Glais confirmed Rockspur's status as champions.

The match started off on a nerve-wracking note with Cwmamman creating some promising opportunities; but an unfortunate defensive blunder had Darren Rowe score the opening goal for Penlan in the 22nd minute.

Cwmamman pushed back with Ryan Cole setting up Harrison Thomas for the equaliser.

Despite this, Penlan reestablished their domination.

A successful penalty by Theo Waters and a brilliant goal from Darren Rowe solidified Penlan's 3-1 lead.

The tides turned slightly towards Cwmamman's favour just before the half-time whistle as Ryan Cole's corner kick found its way directly into Penlan's net, pegging the score back to 3-2.

With energy renewed, Cwmamman United began the second half on the right foot.

James Gorman, Cam Williams, and Jackson Brereton found good ball and a powerful volley from Ryan Cole equalised the game.

A significant setback rocked Cwmamman after this – as goalkeeper Callum Andrews was injured and replaced by centre half Jack Sullivan.

The new goalie performed excellently, however, assisting Cwmamman to a 4-3 lead in the 58th minute thanks to a goal by Iestyn Evans.

The loss of their lead disrupted Penlan significantly, leading to a complete erosion of their discipline.

In the final 30 minutes of the match, they received four yellow cards, four blue cards, and three red cards, one of which was for one of their coaches.

Cwmamman, however, maintained calm and exploited this advantage, creating more scoring opportunities without any disciplinary warnings.

The victory over last year’s champions marked a major comeback following their performance the previous week.

Following this triumph against Penlan AFC, they are set to finish the season against the champions Rockspur, with the match scheduled for Grenig Park, 2.30pm, on Saturday, May 4.
